Jeremy Bear: Tips on Triplets

Jeremy Bear is a fixture of my childhood.
Jeremy’s youngest sister was my best girl for so many years of my life. Lauren and I made prank phone calls from the landline in her room , snuck out to toilet paper houses, had sleepovers on her trampoline, ate ice cream for breakfast, and doodled the names of boys in our diaries in the eras of hair spray and braces and tinted chapstick.
Jeremy was years older and doing everything first, making it all look way more interesting and wittier than we knew how to be.
Jeremy and his wife Carey are forever etched into my heart; our journeys have an anchoring parallel. In the same year that Robb died, their triplet baby boys were born and died.
Our worlds imploded in the same season. And though our losses were very different, we landed in the same giant sea, asking the same questions to the same God.
Jeremy’s boys would be thirteen this month.
I will forever know how old they would be.
In honor of their birthday, Jeremy has created and curated a beautiful body of work that is breathtaking, a series of ten interviews with writers, authors, musicians, and artists whose names you may know. They each dive into their experiences of life, death, loss, grief, and the dozen blurry layers of each.
I make a cameo later in the series, and our conversation reverberates in my mind. I am eager to share it with you, a raw dialogue that matters.
But our conversation is just one piece of the mosaic he has made. And I want you to know about it.
Ladies and gentlemen,
this is Jeremy Bear,
with Tips on Triplets.
