Christmas Words for Christmas Cards

Since this is the year that my boys and I are taking back our holidays, this is the year when the Christmas cards will make their grand encore.

Hello, Christmas cards.  Remember me?  It's been a long, long time.

I have been collecting Christmas words, drawing them from carols, lyrics, greetings, commercials. I love to pluck them out of their natural environment and let them have their place in a spotlight out of context.

I've been looking for just the right phrase for our Christmas 2014.

Merry Everything, Happy Always.

Be Merry and bright.

Ox and ass are feeding.
(Just kidding about that one. But wouldn't it be funny?)

Laughing all the way

All is calm, all is bright

In the air there's a feeling of Christmas.

It's the most wonderful time of the year.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas.

Have yourself a merry little Christmas.

Hang a shining star on the highest bough.

Say Merry Christmas for all the world to hear.

When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.

Or my very favorite: He appeared and the soul felt its worth.

But then, in the song O Come, All Ye Faithful, I found what I believe to be the perfect words to describe our little family this season.

And so we are.

  1. Oh Come All Ye Faithful, is my all-time favorite Christmas Carol since I was a small child. Joyful and Triumphant would be a top choice of words, but truly, hearing that song always brings the Christmas spirit out in me. And I still get goose bumps when I sing it.
