I love you, Lord God, and you make me strong.

You are my mighty rock, my fortress, my protector,

the rock where I am safe, 

my shield, my powerful weapon, and my place of shelter.

Psalm 18:1-2

I look at that first verse, and I wonder if it is a transaction.

I wonder if and could instead be so.

I love you, Lord God, so you make me strong.

My strength comes from you, and it pours out of my praise, my love for you.

I wonder if you make me strong because I love you.
