That One Year

My mom hugged me a little longer, a little tighter.

Her teary voice said, “I cannot tell you what a gift you are to me. You have blessed me every day of your life.”

Her voice and the scene were broken by a giggle.

She added, “I mean, except for that one year.”

(Thirteen is a rough go for everyone involved.)

  1. Ohhhh, yes!! 13 and 14 for the girls in my house. Basically, 8th grade. Horrid time!

  2. Amen to that!

  3. Yup, the time when mom was never right and I had to go out of my way to “prove” it. 😛

  4. In my case and my daughter’s it was 16. Yuck!

  5. Yes, thirteen is awful! lol
