Million Bajillion Kazillion
“Mommy, that song said God is jealous.”
“Yes, it did.”
“But jealous is kind of mean.”
“No, jealous just means, ‘I wish you had given to me what you just gave to somebody else.’ Like when Tucker plays with another friend, you might feel jealous. When we give more love to someone else or something else, God feels jealous.”
“Mommy, I love Jesus the most. Do you?”
“I do.”
“Do you love Jesus more than Uncle Rob?”
“I do.”
And here we have it: the theory that Love is a Pie Chart, and there is only so much to go around before we reach the maximum 100%.
“Do you love Uncle Rob more than you love us?”
And here we have it: the theory that Love is a Pie Chart, and there is only so much to go around before we reach the maximum 100%.
“I love Uncle Rob differently than I love you.”
“But do you love him more?”
I will rephrase my answer. “You two are my favorite boys in the whole wide world.”
“Do your friends know that?”
“They do.”
“They know that you love us the most of anyone in the world, ever?”
“They do, buddy.”
“What about your best friend… have you told her you love us more than her?”
“She knows, honey. She has two little boys, too. She knows what it’s like to love them so much.”
“So, would you say that you love us a million bajillion kazillion, and you love her about 151?”
I smiled. “Yes, you might say that.”
“Mommy, I don’t think anybody can really count as high as a million bajillion kazillion.”
“Then it’s a good number for how much I love you. Nobody could ever count that high.”
Dana says:
I. Love. This. 🙂
