Banking On It

Red And Yellow Leaves In Autumn Forest

Hebrews 11 is the Hall of Faith, the profile of the most profound in their faith in written biblical history.  Paragraph after paragraph tells the story of people – real people – who acted on what they believed, not what they could see.

By faith, Abel…
By faith, Enoch…
By faith, Noah…
By faith, Abraham…
By faith, Isaac…
By faith, Jacob…
By faith, Joseph…
By faith, Moses…
By faith, Rahab…
By faith, Gideon…
By faith, Barak…
By faith, Samson…
By faith, Jephthah…
By faith, David…
By faith, Samuel…
By faith, the prophets…
By faith, we…

By faith, by faith, by faith.

And this famous chapter is tied up with this bow at the end:

“These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised.  They admitted that they were aliens and strangers on earth.  People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own.  Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

They all lived and then they died,
all with no tangible proof of promises kept.

And these are the superheroes in the hallmark of faith.

I don’t understand your ways,
O, but I will give you my song,
Give you all of my praise.
You hold onto all my pain.
With it, you are pulling me closer,
pulling me into your ways.

Now around every corner,
and up every mountain,
I’m not looking for crowns
or the water from fountains.

I’m desperately seeking,
frantic believing,
that the sight of your face
is all that I’m needing.

Red And Yellow Leaves In Autumn ForestI will say to you:
It’s gonna be worth it.
It’s gonna be worth it.
It’s gonna be worth it all.

I believe this:
It’s gonna be worth it.
It’s gonna be worth it.
It’s gonna be worth it all.

All my pain
is gonna be worth it all.

All my joy
is gonna be worth it all.

The sight of your face,
you are all I’m needing.

You’re gonna be worth it.
You’re gonna be worth it all.

I believe this.  I know this is true.

(“Worth It All”, Rita Springer)

So I read this again and again:

God has planned something better for us,
so that only together with us will it be made perfect.

And it’s gonna be worth it.

I’m banking on it.
