In the While

Multi-tasking is an art.  Or perhaps a necessity.

Read a book while you’re in line at the post office.

Check the kids’ homework while you’re waiting for your bagged food in the drive-thru lane.

Check your email while you’re standing in the morning grass, waiting for the dog to pee.

Thaw the chicken while you heat the water.

Microwave the sauce while the water boils.

Run a Clorox wipe over the bathroom sink while you’re supervising the baths.

Mix the brownies while the casserole is in the oven.

I think my greatest feat was nursing a baby while I vacuumed the carpet.

I’m in a waiting place right now.  I feel like I’m seated in the very own waiting room of my very own life, waiting for someone in a white coat to call my name.

What can I do while I’m waiting?  Especially if waiting is all I seem to do?

 * * *

I will move ahead, bold and confident.

I’ll take every step in obedience.

While I’m waiting, I will serve you.

While I’m waiting, I will worship.

While I’m waiting, I will not fear.

I’ll be running the race, even as I wait.

  1. Love that song! Thanks for the reminder.

  2. Tricia, I gather you wrote the first part of this. I don’t suppose John Waller was ever “nursing a baby while vacuuming the carpet.”
