Respectful Intervention

“Mommy, I’ve been meaning to talk to you about something.  I think you pay too much attention to your phone.  Sometimes I want to talk to you, but you’re texting, and I think you should stop.  Or sometimes when I’m with you, you take a call from someone, and I think you could say, ‘Maybe now is not a good time for me to be on the phone, so I’ll call you back.’  You always ask Tucker and me to practice People First and put our technology down when someone is talking to us, and I think that’s a good rule for everyone in our family to follow.”

“Tyler, you are absolutely right.  Thank you for telling me, buddy.  You were very respectful, too.  I promise I will start working on this right now.”

“I think maybe we could make a list of the rules that everyone has to follow.  Like, also, no burping except for on Saturday.”

  1. I find myself giggling. . .

  2. You are raising remarkable boys, Tricia. They constantly amaze me with their maturity and wisdom for as young as they are. Some day their future wives are going to thank you over and over and over for a job well done, but even before then, and already, they are blessing many people along the way. (But yes, let’s leave room for burping on Saturdays. They are, after all, boys.)

  3. Tricia, I think after your book comes out, maybe a Reality TV show is a good idea. You’d be a millionaire. Seriously, you have great boys and are doing a great job.

  4. Convicting……thank you.
