So That You May Know: Part I

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, just as they were handed down to us from those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word.  Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you

so that you may know

the certainty of the things you have been taught.

Luke 1:1-25

* * *

If I may be so bold, I think these may be the most important words in the Bible.

“So that you may know.”

It’s the reason for everything.

The birth of Christ,
the writing of the Bible,
the crucifixion,
the resurrection,
every sermon we hear,
every person we encounter,
every book we read,
every event of every day.

It’s the very purpose of it all:

so that we may know
God,
Jesus,
his glory,
his person,
his heart,
his truth,
light and life.

  1. This may very well echo the Bible’s teachings that, “in the end” all will have had the opportunity to know and accept Christ. A friend of mine, once caught up in sin, told me that she could not understand the forgiveness or grace of God in her life…..until she was extended the hand of grace and forgiveness from a friend, whom she had hurt…….What a wonderful God who would work “so that we might know” beyond a doubt who He truly is…….Great reminder, Tricia……
